Pillow Talk:
A program Iota Chi does annually to educate freshman and transfer woman on the different things that they didn’t learn at Orientation. This event is usually held within the first two weeks of school during the Fall semester. Iota Chi strives to make the young ladies feel comfortable by providing food and encouraging them to be open and honest, just like girl talk. This event is open to all USC females, specifically freshman and transfer students, free of cost.
Kickin’ it with the Redz:
Kickin’ it with the Redz supports the sorority’s 5 Point Thrust by encouraging mental and physical health awareness. Each month the chapter sponsors an event where a professional instructor is brought in to teach a lesson for an hour. The past exercising lessons included hip hop aerobics. dancing with Ken, yoga and more. Future sessions will include water safety, kickboxing, and Pilate’s. This event is open to all USC students free of cost.
Delta Gentleman’s Pageant:
This annual pageant is for freshman, sophomore, and junior males at USC to compete for several scholarships. Scholarships range in amount and are somewhat dependant on the amount of money the participant raises. Some of the awards include: Mr. Delta Gentleman and Mr. Iota Chi along with others. A portion of the money raised is given to the Lupus Foundation of America. 2009 Mr. Delta Gentleman was Sameeh Ross and 2009 Mr. Iota Chi was Anthony Thomas.
Delta Sweetheart Auction:
This fun filled event has been known to bring people from all over. Every year students from the University of South Carolina agree to be auctioned off to help raise money for the Lupus Foundation. The participants have total control on where they decide to go. The event is usually held in the Spring around Valentine’s Day.
Relay For Life:
Every April, the chapter participates in the American Cancer Society’s “Relay For Life”. Relay For Life is a 24-hour event in which teams take turns walking or running around a path. The chapter raises money and participates in the event annually.
The Lupus Foundation:
The Lupus Foundation of America is Iota Chi’s chapter philanthropy. The chapter has donated thousands of dollars to the Foundation and has held health forums discussing Lupus in the past.
MLK Day of Service:
Every year on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday the University of South Carolina community service programs hosts a day of service at various locations around the Columbia community. The Iota Chi chapter participates in this annual initiative to honor the life of Dr. King and his determination to serve others.
